A woman with skeletal face and mannequin body sits upon a pedestal with arms crossed. Red and purple color is spread upon her “body” from knees to ankles, and on hips, elbows, and shoulders. An inverted triangle of neon green covers her from throat to navel. A mandala-pattern halo surrounds her head. The background consists of a blue and black sun ray pattern sprinkled with yellow stars.
This self portrait is intended as a visual representation of symptoms associated with fibromyalgia, including joint pain and cluster headache. The starry blue background broken by black rays represents the interruption in mental processes I experience as a result of “fibro fog”. The mannequin body is an expression of the feeling that my body is not always my own, while the skeletal head represents depression and suicidal ideation.
